Our Story

Born and raised in Grant County, Caitlin & Daniel are proud to call this community home. 

Caitlin is the heart and face of Before & Crafter, serving as our full-time manager and overseeing the store’s daily operations. As the first smile many customers see when they walk through the door, she helps create the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes our store feel like home. When she’s not at the store, Caitlin also serves as a local Cub Scout leader, investing in the next generation of community leaders.

Daniel serves Grant County as a deputy  sheriff and brings his creativity to the store through metal artistry and handcrafted creations. 

Together, they are raising four children and are passionate about building community, supporting local vendors, and preserving the small-town values they cherish.

Lifelong believers in the power of community, Craig and Pam are a driving force behind Before & Crafter.

 Pam is a big part of the heart of organization and creativity, keeping the books balanced while bringing fresh ideas, artistic talent, and an ever-growing knowledge of antiques to the store. As District Executive for Scouting America, she is passionate about serving youth and strengthening communities across southwest Kansas.

Craig is the visionary and project driver  behind many of Before & Crafter’s biggest ideas and store transformations. With a keen eye for vintage treasures and a willingness to tackle even the biggest ideas, he’s often found uncovering hidden history or breathing new life into forgotten pieces. Outside the store, Craig serves as the Undersheriff for Grant County and volunteers extensively throughout the community, always looking for ways to make Grant County an even better place to call home.

Together, Craig and Pam are raising three children in Ulysses and believe that preserving history, supporting local businesses, and investing in people are what make small towns thrive. Through Before & Crafter, they hope to create more than just a store. They want to create a place where history is celebrated, creativity is encouraged, and community connections are strengthened.

Meet Before & Crafter Jr.! Between the Hampton and Alexander families, our seven kids are growing up alongside the business, learning the value of hard work, creativity, and community. Whether they’re helping stock shelves, lending a hand with projects, greeting customers, or dreaming up new ideas, they’re an important part of the Before & Crafter family. We’re proud to be building not just a business, but a legacy that the next generation can help shape and carry forward.
